A brief intro...

Please let me introduce myself...
for those of you reading this who do not know me personally- I'm Ayal. In Hebrew, אַייל
I love being outdoors, am very curious and have a good eye for interesting details of the world around me (especially in new places), I love speaking Hebrew, playing music... that's enough to get you started. I am recent graduate of Brandeis University and am spending the year living in Jerusalem working on environmental projects and Israeli youth with the American Joint Distribution Committee!

The work I am a doing is through the Joint Distribution Committee's (JDC or "the Joint") Jewish Service Corps as a JDC-BBYO Global Service Fellow. It's a year long fellowship for young Jews passionate about helping to serve the wide range of needs in Jewish communities around the world as well as helping in other communities in need around the world.

Each fellow has a unique placement and role... my group fellows are placed all over the world from India to Argentina to Rwanda, Berlin, Ukraine, and of course Israel... to name a few. I am based here in Jerusalem but will be traveling to different communities across the country and working with community members on projects such as community gardening as well as youth programming in partnership with BBYO.

This blog is for family and friends as well as others who end up here by way of the Joint... I will be posting stories, about my experiences working at the Joint, personal insights, interesting tidbits of information about Israel's environment/ society/ culture/ history, and best of all - pictures.

Enjoy תהנו (Te-he-noo)!

Ayal אייל
